About the strategy circle

“Rowing harder doesn’t help if the boat is headed in the wrong direction” – Kenichi Ohmae

Many types of organisation, learning from all

The strategy circle has worked with businesses, NGOs, foundations, networks, startups and an international organisation spanning 30 countries. I have worked with boards of various kinds, in many different contexts. The result is a very broad understanding of how organisations can configure themselves, their teams, their communication and their objectives.

Working on what matters

This is different for every organisation, but critical to the sustainability of all of  them. Understanding your values, how you create value in the world by what you produce, or offer, is critical to long-term success and sustainable outcomes. We don’t often think about these things because we are too busy doing, but that can be counterproductive. Taking time to think about how to organise resources in sustainable ways is essential to success (profitability or impactability).

The value of good process

When appropriate process and structure are applied in emergent and thoughtful ways in an organisation, it can increase the capacity and longevity of the organisation in astonishing ways. Good process and structure can leverage people’s time and abilities, information, assets, products and services in meaningful and measurable ways. As you grow, what is appropriate keeps changing, as the world changes faster and faster, organisations need to take time to think about how they organise themselves.

Managing change responsibly and productively

Change is necessary to survive a constantly moving context. How you manage change in your organisation is essential to organisational health and vitality. Change can cripple or inspire and therefore needs to be done thoughtfully. Having the capacity to work with emergence and change is what makes you thrive.
